moonfleur1. Favourite fic I wrote this year?
If I'm being honest, it was probably darling, will you walk me home - I think it's the only fic of my own that I've reread a couple of times and still kind of enjoyed. Probably because it is everything I ever want in a fic - angst, ambiguous relationships, open endings. All the good stuff!
2. Least favourite fic I wrote this year?
Everyone who knows me probably knows this already but... cause baby you're a firework. God, I just really do not like this fic at all. I don't think the plot was great, I don't think I handled their relationship well, everything was very rushed because fest deadlines.
That being said, I never read this after posting so I can't say for sure if it is objectively bad. I just felt a lot of negative feelings while writing this and so that has kind of translated into how I feel about it even if it's not true.
Even more unfortunate? I guess? Is the sad fact that this is my most popular fic and I can't even be happy about it because I am so upset with it in general. Sigh. One day I will rewrite it I think.
3. Favourite line/scene I wrote this year?
I know I have a few but this line from crown of thorns: "He still doesn’t know what this guys’ game is, he walks around without any weapons but threatens like he holds the key to human extinction, and Mark doesn’t like it, doesn’t like that he can’t place the source of the danger."
Favourite scene though... The very first scene of dream a little dream I think. That and probably the entirety of vos currere venas. The Nee of that era (because both those fic were written around the same time), I don't know who she is but I would like her back please.
4. Number of words written this year?
Number of words posted at the point of this post (3 Dec)... 215k. Number of words written... 300k :')
5. Most popular fic this year?
Already mentioned this earlier but... cause baby you're a firework.
6. Least popular fic this year?
At this point in time... My A Little Wonder fic, which kinda sucks because I did kind of enjoy writing it. But it is also my most recent fic so I guess time will tell.
7. Fandom I enjoyed writing for the most this year?
I literally... only write for two fandoms (nct & svt). And it's a real toss up because NCT have more fics written but SVT have longer fics written so I don't know if I can really pick. IF I really had to though, then probably SVT because they're my ult group and the ficdom is a lot less stressful to deal with lol. I'm sorry but is what it is.
8. Favourite character I wrote this year?
HMMM. This is a hard one mainly because I wrote too much to get too attached to my characters (my all-time fav character will always be Yuta from Chorus Mortem) but...
Off the top of my head, I think Mingyu from Song of Songs because I think he is probably the character most people connected with when they read that fic and I probably connect to him the most too. He was all of his best traits combined: patient, understanding, loving & everything Wonwoo needed in that fic. One day I will do a proper like write up on Song of Songs but I've told a few people that Mingyu ended up being Wonwoo's platonic soulmate and I loved how it turned out like that.
Honourable mentions go to Jun and Renjun from beyond the stars - both of them were characters who weren't supposed to be as fleshed out as they ended up being (Jun was supposed to be a random OC and Renjun... wasn't even planned BUT they've turned out to be some of my favourite characters so far and I love them a whole lot).
9. Favourite writing song inspiration?
darling, will you walk me home's prompt was actually a song and I think it hit me really hard (it is in my 2020 playlist so I guess that says a lot). I wouldn't call it my favourite though because I think that depends on the fic and the mood etc. Plus, I generally do not listen to music while I'm writing because I get distracted :')
10. A new kink I wrote by surprise in a fic this year?
I... do not write NSFW. BUT... I have written some considerably more spicy things but yeah. Nothing explicit. Although I think Jun bites Wonwoo in Song of Songs does that count? LOL.
11. Something I learned about writing this year?
Not really anything new but I think I hit a point where I was happy just to write, like without any regard for interaction. But, that of course, came back for some reason and now I'm in a funk again regarding engagement and interaction BUT if I found it once, I can do it again.
But, it really is so true though what people say about enjoying what you write for the sake of writing and not for getting attention or whatever. You really do feel a lot more fulfilled that way because, in the end, the only happiness that matters is your own.
I hope to get back to that point again.
12. Current number of WIPs?
As someone who can really only work on one major project at a time, I only have two concurrent pieces that I'm working on - beyond the stars and Children of Shadow, which has not been posted yet (it was accidentally posted so if you saw it please ignore it - it hasn't been posted on the fest account yet). I guess Crown of Thorns counts as one even thought it is on hiatus until I finish these two.
13. Most memorable comment or review?
This comment fromhereinevitably on Ashes to Ashes definitely, hands down. The first time someone ever took out lines from my fic to comment and I urgh. Ash, I love you <3
Also this one on cause baby you're a firework because whoever you are OP. You have my heart. You made me feel so much better about a fic I really didn't like so <3
Honourable mentions to this one + the very first comment on Song of Songs because I was absolutely not expecting someone to read through that entire behemoth of a fic in less than 24hours but they did and I was so, so SHOCKED. I remember looking at the email and being like are you serious? So, thank you op!!

This is quite a ridiculous question because I've read SO MANY. I cannot possibly remember all (so friends if you're reading this please don't get offended) but off the top of my head... Lethe by RoamingSignals, Battleborn by Cobalamincosel, The Long Way Home by bigdamnhero. And all of my friends'/mutuals' fics!! There are too many to name but you know who you are <3
15. Favourite fic author I read this year?
Everyone I mentioned in 14 because I hate picking just one of you so everyone!
16. Longest fic I wrote this year?
beyond the stars - posted this is currently at almost 50k, written i'm at ~80k. It will most likely end up being 100-120k!
Song of Songs - my longest one shot, which is just under 50k :)
17. Shortest fic I wrote this year?
you sing louder than the sea (to me) - because it was for snapshots and I was too lazy to edit it so that it 1000 (all my following snapshot pieces are at exactly 1k). I do love this one though, I've been so into ocean imagery this really was just me being self-indulgent.
18. How many fandoms did I write for this year?
Officially (on ao3) 2? I did write a drarry drabble (lol) and I also have a TBZ wip but I don't know if those count.
19. Favourite fandom event I participated in this year?
NNBB!! <3 hello, all of you following me on here are from nnbb! I met a lot of my current friends and mutuals from there and I am so very thankful for that. I love you all. It was a fun event and everyone was just really nice so I'm so glad I joined it!
20. Favourite fandom to read fic from this year?
NCT I guess, since most of the fics I've read are NCT ones. I've been getting back into SVT though and getting more into TBZ so I'm excited to see where that leads.
I guess that's all for this folks. It's been one heck of a year for me writing-wise, especially hitting 200k words posted (not even including the parts of those fics still not posted). I think I've most definitely grown as a writer, but I know I still have a long way to go. Here's to 2021 being a better year lol.
